Friday Favorites: August 2020

1. Beachwaver Co. BRB Blonde Purple Shampoo + Conditioner

Not just for blondes. After one use, my hair was noticeably softer, shinier, and icier in color. The orange-y yellow tones that come from a buildup and summer sun were visibly more cool and blended, mimicking the way the color had looked when I first stepped out of the salon.

Now, I use the deeply pigmented duo once a week to keep my highlights bright and boost their contrast. The way it works is pretty genius: The deep purple pigment counteracts oxidized yellow tones since they are on opposite sides on the color wheel. This shampoo and conditioner combo has particularly deep pigments (the kind that can stain your shower if you’re not careful), but that’s key to it working so well.

It’s also sulfate-free, so it doesn’t strip my hair of its natural oils (or its color), and it’s formulated with coconut oil and shea butter to add back moisture, something bleached strands like mine really crave. Both the shampoo and conditioner melt into hair and leave it buttery soft after rinsing—I could literally feel it working. After using, I felt like my hair was stronger, easier to brush, and considerably more hydrated, along with being less brassy. It felt healthier, more nourished, and—most importantly—squeaky clean.

2. H&M Airy Dress

My favorite sundress this season. This (under $20) dress is perfect for hot, sunny, and humid days of running errands, going to the beach, or just lounging around the house. Super light and airy and still very cute and feminine. The straps are adjustable, it is knee-length, and it is unlined. It does run a bit big, so I suggest going down a size.

3. Healthy Human 32oz Stein Bottles

Beautiful water bottle. Awesome company. Save the planet and stay hydrated.

I love this brand of water bottles so much I became a brand ambassador for Healthy Human. I just got this size in Harvest Maple for my husband.

4. Nuun

Nuun Vitamins provide what your body needs — the 11 vitamins and minerals most of us don’t get enough of, plus the optimal balance of electrolytes for everyday activity. Each drink (one tablet with 16 ounces of water) has only 10 calories and delivers vitamin A, B folate, B6, C, E, and D for health and wellness, and sodium, potassium, calcium, magnesium, and chloride for optimal hydration. Also, I haven’t tried a flavor I didn’t like.

5. Dry Erase Pocket Sleeves

I can’t begin to express how environmentally awesome these dry erase pockets sleeves are. When it comes time to work on a printout I just slip a copy into the pocket, power my kiddos with a fun dry erase marker and have a blast. My kids love it and I don’t have to keep making copies. Saving the planet and happy kiddos… It’s a win-win.
